Tall Statue
I've posted a photo a few years ago of the really tall statue that overlooks the capital building and downtown St Paul. Tomorrow, I pay a visit and finally find out who the statue is. My guess was, it was a first settler to the area. I was close, very close, but not quite correct. Find out tomorrow June 2nd June 3rd who this is.

Partial Eclipse
The quality is terrible, but my kids and I were checking out the partial eclipse on Sunday, May 20 2012. We used a small telescope and a piece of paper. My daughter took the photo with her 1.3MP camera phone. I had never tried it before, it's crude, but it actually works!! The line across the sun is an electrical wire. Once the wire was out of the view, then the trees were in the way. It was an enjoyable time with the kids.

Mariucci Arena
It's hard to believe Mariucci Arena opened in 1993 and I had never stepped foot inside of the building until 2012! What a great looking arena it is. Very open, easy to get into your seats, not a bad seat in the house for that matter. I had been inside the old arena, several times, when it was attached to the Barn [Williams Arena]. I'm not sure what took so long for me to go, perhaps it is because tickets are so hard to get, but I will return much sooner in the future. Mariucci Arena is home to the Minnesota Gophers hockey team.

Viewing the Facade
I've posted a similar photo of the St Paul Cathedral a few years ago, actually over four years ago. I was around the area again, photographing the surroundings, and couldn't pass the opportunity of this photo. Seeing the group of people, pointing and looking up at the facade, really made this one stand out too me.
