Captured these ducks this summer on the hottest and most humid day of the summer. In fact, it was the most humid day that I can ever recall from these parts. I'm unsure if these ducks were enjoying the heat, but this swampy looking land was a flooded out area near the Mississippi River. We had received quite a bit of rain a few day prior to this photo.

For Those Of You Missing The Snow
Here in the Twin Cities, we've yet to have a snow fall of more than a couple of inches. In fact, I've only shoveled one time, and I didn't even break a sweat with my effort. It's really a strange winter for us. Even my kids were excited to see the snow the other day when it snowed just enough to make the ground white, but not enough to shovel. I also have yet to hear one complaint about the lack of snow. This is however, a far cry from last year, which gave us our second or third snowiest winter on record. Today's photo was from the top of my driveway looking at the large mounds of snow at the bottom of my driveway. Boy that was fun moving all that snow, not.

Red Bull - Crashed Ice 2012
Red Bull Crashed Ice? Yeah, I had never heard of it either until this year, but it looked to be quite the event here in St Paul. Four ice skaters at a time, race down hill on a dangerous track, the winner moves on until a champion is crowned. While I didn't make it down to the event, Justin so graciously braved the cold weather and provided a great close up action shot of the event. Thank you sir! St Paul was selected as the only North America city to host such event.

Blog Hijack: Ready To Go
These two boys were contemplating their next run into the ocean. They have 'skim boards' in their hands. From what I could tell, you run along the waters edge, throw the board in front of you in the water, then jump on the skim board and ride it as long as you can. It looked much easier to just photograph, so I didn't ask for a turn. :)

Blog Hijack: Profiles
More from my Florida trip. This time, I'm at Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs. It was our first night in Florida. We had just arrived, the sun had already set, yet we wanted to go see the ocean, even if there was only a few more minutes of light that evening. What also caught my eye was the "crepuscular rays" in the sky, also called "distant cloud shadows". I had too look up the correct term, but I've seen them many times before. If you look at the center of the photo, in the sky, there is a diagonal line of blue and yellow. That line is created by a clouds or gaps in clouds, hundreds and hundreds of miles away and can only be seen after the sun has set for quite some time.

Blog Hijack!! Where Am I?
Well, I just recently returned from the warm weather state of Florida last week. My family and I spent 9 days in the Tarpon Spring area, about 30 minutes from Tampa. If you don't mind, I'm going to post some of my favorite photos from the trip, more particularly, many of the sunsets. We spent the majority of our days at Clearwater Beach, with colorful skys as the sun set. So bear with me while I hijack my own blog.

Theme Day: Photo Of The Year 2012
Welcome to 2012 and thanks for stopping by on the Photo Of The Year Theme Day. This is one of my more favorite theme days in our photo community. Getting to see everyone's favorite photo they took for the year. Some hold a voting contest, some choose it by number of page views, while others just pick their preference.
My favorite photo of the year was taken in the spring of 2011 at the Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, MN. This is the view from the back of the main lodge, this path leads down to the frozen lake. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
