The sign is very aged and in major need of some upkeep. I have not been to this area at night to see if the sign still works. I believe the Burnsville Bowl is still operational, plus I see an aluminum ladder leading up to the sign from the bottom left. So perhaps I caught them during maintenance after all?
Burnsville Bowl was recently sold and will have a new name. I think - I could be wrong though - that they're going to keep the classic sign up. I saw a picture a while ago of that place when it was in the middle of a field and nothing else was around it. That was around 40 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWow- the sign brings back memories! Our family spend many years living in the same house in Burnsville and seeing this sign was a regular part of our lives. It will be interesting to see what becomes of "the bowl". I'll give an update to you one day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, I'm glad I captured the sign in it's raw condition, before they do any upkeep to it. The sign is quite unique for a typical business sign, it gives the building a lot of character and if they were to remove it....who knows, perhaps it'll just be another bowling ally.
ReplyDeleteRare to see a sign like that anymore. I wonder if they can find replacement lightbulbs anymore.
