It's hard to believe I started my Twin Cities photo blog five years ago now, but here we are in 2011 and ready for year number six. In all honesty, I started this blog to learn how to use my digital camera, more particularly, all of the manual settings. I hadn't planned on still being for five years, but I really enjoy the hobby these days.

Lock And Dam 1
Panoramic shot taken while on the Ford Parkway Bridge, which cross the Mississippi River. In the distance is Lock and Dam 1 originally constructed in 1917, then reconstructed in 1929 [though I'm reading conflicting dates, but I'll go with these] to allow for hydro power to be developed. The structure is 574 feet, the locks are 56 feet wide, 400 feet long.

Burnsville Bowl
The sign is very aged and in major need of some upkeep. I have not been to this area at night to see if the sign still works. I believe the Burnsville Bowl is still operational, plus I see an aluminum ladder leading up to the sign from the bottom left. So perhaps I caught them during maintenance after all?

Lighted Path
Night falls in Nisswa, Minnesota with a lighted pathway to Gull Lake. We'd driven through Nisswa several times on our way to Bemidji and loved the little town up north from the Twin Cities. We finally made reservations for the weekend to stay in Nisswa for our 17th anniversary at the historic Grand View Lodge. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend staying here in one of the suites or a private cabins on the lake.

Old University Avenue
I took this photo a few years ago. I'd forgotten I had taken it actually. Currently, they are building a train right down the middle of the road. I've heard it's a mess and haven't seen it personally. So, finding this photo was a surprise because I wish I had taken one, but here it was in my archives all along.

Minnesota! It's Not Just For Lutherans Anymore
I believe the first time I saw this sign a few years back, I thought this was a church, even though the sign is displayed at an old theater. After a quick research, I was very wrong. The Brave New Workshop does a lot of improve and comedy shows each and every week. This old theater is alive and well with plenty of current performances. The theatre is located in downtown St Paul.

Edges
I've been so busy as of late, that I missed posting on the first of the month. This is traditionally the theme day photo in the photo blog community. The missed theme day was 'edges', I had a photo selected for the day, but lacked the time to post it. So, as a make up day, this was my photo selection for the day.
