Theme Day: My Favorite Corner Store

June's theme day in the City Daily Photo community was a bit different for me. My favorite local corner store is the theme, but I found myself in search of a favorite. There was a couple I visited growing up as a child, but nothing really stood out to me as a favorite. Or the ones I do remember are no longer a corner store or have been torn down. This posed a challenge. I was passing through the East Side neighborhood last month when this place caught my eye. I made several visits here when I was over at my cousin's house, which is on the same block as this corner store. The very aged sign says the name of the store is called 'Blue' for some reason that name doesn't ring a bell. It may have been called something else when I was much younger, or my cousin called it something else. I just can't recall right now.

Stop by the other cities participating in the June theme day via the links below the photo. Do remember that there are timezone differences between the other cities. Or you can head over to the portal page to see a thumbnail view of blogs that have posted their corner store photo.

  2. Interesting how there are no windows - of course, that makes for more selling space, I suppose.

  11. Slinger, With the snow back there weathering things the way it does, maybe that sign isn't at old as it appears and it has changed names since your childhood days :-). I'm surprised that I'm all the way to the "T's" in our list of blogs and no one has posted a photo of a 7-11 yet. I would have thought that the predominant "corner store"/convenience market anywhere in the USA.
