Theme Day: Cemeteries And Tombstones

I have waited a long time for this theme day of cemeteries and tombstones. There was a suggestion of this about a year ago and this shot has been in my mind ever since. I'll be curious if there are any other cemetery photos as surprising as this one is. How many cemeteries have a fast food restaurant right next time them and an auto garage on the other side of the plot of land. One could also see this photo as one hell of a subliminal message!

This cemetery does have quite a history in the city of Cottage Grove, including a celebrity that invented something you are probably familiar with. Come back tomorrow and I'll give full details then, it will be worth it. In the mean time, visit the other cities participating in the October Daily Photo theme day, the links are below this photo. See you tomorrow!

I find this shot rather humorous--the Golden Arches are everywhere!!

You are right this is surprising, but not so unusual for America and that fast food chain. Actually the cemetery that I showed is now a park and the gravestones have been moved around...but not the bodies.

I don't know what to say...

Fantastic juxtaposition!

If that doesn't put one off fast food then nothing will!

Anyone for a big mac?

alors là, bravo pour cette photo. j'espère au moins que le cimetière n'est pas sponsorisé par McDo.
Qu'elle idée funeste et stupide de mettre ce panneau à cet endroit

then there, cheer for this photograph. I hope at least that the cemetery is not sponsored by McDo.
That it disastrous and stupid idea to put this panel at this place

Too right, most unusual. I wonder if the dead mind sharing their space with McDonald's. I would!

Very appropriate! McDonalds is all over, and everybody's gonna die one day.

I like the choice of placing the McDonalds sign in between the tumbstones.

I LOVE this view. There is a cemetery in the town next to mine that has a similar venue but not quite as fun. I will post that some day.

Convent for the decedents and for the funeral industry who will get the extra business from all of us who over eat.

I find the Golden Arches well placed here - we all have to go through Purgatory to get to our final resting place ;-)

This is very unusual view for cemetery, interesting shot!

Great perspective! Love the way you placed the sign right between the tombstones. You're correct -- quite suggestive!

Outstanding photo, and a mystery! Can't get more creative for a theme day!
I know there are other companies in and around the twin cities, but I'm guessing it's someone connected to 3M. Can't wait for tomorrow!

I cannot wait for tomorrow to find out the rest of the story. Great photo!

Great photo, I love the juxtaposition of the Golden Arches and the headstones. There's a lesson there somewhere... ;)

You commented on the similarity in stones between mine (River Falls) and yours. No doubt! I was thinking the same thing when I was out there.

I love that McDonald's cemetery. I must have sat in that drive-thru a dozen times wondering how it came to be located right there. You have some nice history (eventhough you don't have a downtown).

That's awesome in such a wrong, wrong way.

Don't know that I would order a hamburger from this location. Great photo.

As you found out, Norwich has a churchyard next to a mall and very close to it are fastfood places!

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo.
