Summer is winding down, Cottage View Drive-In will soon be closed. With the kids back in school, the drive-in is only open on Friday and Saturdays. I heard from the staff that this will be the last year of the drive in, the land will be sold. He did say, the own has said this very thing for the last six years. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this is not the final year of one of the two outdoor theaters in the Twin Cities.
I took this photo just before it was completely dark out, standing in the brush with my tripod. I was not alone, there was me and several dozen mosquitoes swarming around me. I walked away with a couple of outstanding shots and 19 bug bites from my friends. I actually left much sooner than I wanted to because the bugs were so bad that night.

Hong Kong, China
Wonderful picture. I think it was worth a few mosquito bites to get such a great shot.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous shot! The colors are perfect. The night traffic zooming by, the red sign, love it! And the tree, the tree alone deserves its own tag. And from here, we can take it all in... mosquito-free! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you. I love neon! Your photograph is outta sight! Oh, and I'm having sympathy-itching-sensations for you. Skeeters are one of the reasons I'm glad I'm in Portland now instead of my beloved hometown, Jackson, Mississippi. Did you go to the movies?
ReplyDeleteLong ago, Selma had two drive-in movie theaters! That back when Craig AFB was here, but one still operated in the 1980s before closing.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, slinger. The street like almost looks like a star.
ReplyDeleteA nice view :)
ReplyDeleteI love night photography.
It is 2010 and the Cottage View is still open. And, as usual, the "this is the last year" comments continue to be heard. I think there is even a Facebook group about saving the drive-in.
