Happy 13th Anniversary To My Wife

Today is the day, 13 years ago that I walked down the isle and said those two simple words "I do" to my best friend in the world. You are the most important person to me, to our kids, to our family. Thirteen years!

I thought it would be fitting to post a photo of the church we were married in. The First Presbyterian church in Hastings, just as you cross the Mississippi River bridge heading south on Highway 61, it's about a half mile down on your right hand side.

  1. Congratulations! It's great to hear that you're still so happy together - may you have many more years of joy. Pretty church by the way, must have been a lovely wedding. :)

  2. I can't think of a better church in which to get married. Congratulations to both of you! Slinger, it only gets better as the years go by; we celebrated our 45th on Feb. 17th. May your next 13th be as enjoyable (and challenging as all relationships are!).

PS. Slinger, I don't know why but more than 50% of the time I cannot comment on your blog.

  3. Congratulations to both of you!
Your wife is a lucky gal to have someone like you who appreciates her...

  4. The church is a metaphor for two coming together. Those two towers on each side - the center touching/holding each.

Happy Anniversary. Isn't it the best to be married to a best friend?!!! If I could give one piece of advice to young adults seeking partners, that's what I would say.

  5. Congrats on making it 13 years. This year my dear wife and I will make it to 25. That is so hard to believe. We weren't married in a church though but you have seen the place where we were married. The plantation house where we were married was used as the set for the movie "The Notebook" We were good friends with a previous owner. Best of luck to you. I have been to the Twin Cities but it was a long time ago and in the dead of winter. I remember everything was white. :)
