Rear View Mirror

This beautiful building is the City Hall in Hastings, this is the back view of the building. I'm not sure if this building was originally something else at one time or if they built it like this as a city hall. I really like the curved arches that flow through out the building, the windows, the roof, and some of the detailed brick work. What strikes me as odd is the chimney. It's not made from the same brick type and it's off center.

  1. The building is so beautiful I first found it hard to think it was only the back of it. The orange colour is strikingly beautiful and the dome so... out of place? Or are there other similar buildings around?

  4. I LOVE this building. A week ago I drove to Winona and lamented that I didn't have my camera along to snap for my other blog! It's a treasure, isn't it!! You framed it well!

  5. Bummer you didn't have your camera with you Kate. Hastings, as I know you've seen is so photographable as it's such a historic town.

I recall about 10-15 years ago, when I started coming to Hastings regularlly and realizing that that brilliant building as a city hall, I was stunned!

The rear of the building looks great, wait till I get a in focus photo of the front of the building

  6. Slinger, I AM going to Hastings next week to have lunch with a friend in her new condo which is almost right downtown. Afterwards I'll mosey around taking snaps for my other blog: Kate-musings. You re-awakened my interests in that historic town. Thanks!
