Spent a 6 days in the
Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota with some family members. There was a lot of rain, cool temps, couple sunny days and a lot of scenery to take photos of. This is one photo from the trip I took. I'll have to create a site with more of my trip photos as some of them I really like, but they certainly are not from the Twin Cities.
Glad you're back and that you didn't get eaten alive by mosquitos! Look forward to the pics from your trip - did you see any wild animals?
ReplyDeleteLuck for this trip, they have had a couple of frosts up there....so NO misquitos!! Can I get an amen people! It was very odd to not have to wear ANY bug spray for the entire trip. I did however have to wear a winter hat plus a hood over the stocking hat during the windy days.
ReplyDeleteWild animals....not this time around. I saw birds, frogs, fish, a gardner snake, mice, deer [but we were driving in the car], chipmunk, I believe that is about it. Well, we did have a camp visitor in the middle of the night that dragged one of our packs down the trail. So we are not sure what it was, but it was a smaller animal from what we could tell. The foot prints were not all that clear. [We tied all of our packs to the trees, off the ground, like we normally do the next morning]
I've seen a bear one time and a moose a couple of times before. The bear was about 20 feet in front of us when we were portaging. We looked up, the bear was there in the portage with us. It scared us, someone in our party said 'holy crap a bear' and poof, the bear was scared into the woods.
Great photo--love it! All the elements work well together.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the bear. When I was in college, my sister (about 14) came to visit me; we went to a resort somewhere near Duluth (I have no idea where it was or how I found it in the pre-Internet days). We stayed around four days, had fun, on the last day I dragged the big suitcase to the bus stop where we were being picked up (only across the street from the resort entrance), asked my sister to watch it, went back to the office to check out, and got back to the bus stop. My sister was a bit sitff, and she told me, a cub had walked about 10 feet away from her, and the Mom followed. Sister wasn't sure if she was supposed to play dead, so she stood still - "vertical dead" she said. Me, I was thinking how on earth do I explain to my parents in Tokyo Daughter Number 2 was eaten by a bear! This would have been in August sometime.
ReplyDeletewhew! a mom with a cub is not a safe thing if the cub is in danger. Crazy story.
